José R. Crespo López-Urrutia elected into DFG review board

MPIK scientist successful in DFG review board election

In the review board election of the German Research Foundation (DFG) 2023, apl. Prof. Dr. José R. Crespo López-Urrutia from MPIK was elected as one of 6 members of the review board "Optics, Quantum Optics and Physics of Atoms, Molecules and Plasmas" .

In the DFG's review board elections running from October 23 to November 20, around 50,000 of the eligible scientists elected a total of 649 representatives to 49 different DFG review boards for the term of office from 2024 to 2028.

The review boards evaluate proposals to the DFG in a three-stage process consisting of review, evaluation and decision. They compare all proposals submitted to them in order to identify the most worthy projects within the given financial framework. In this way, they ensure that proposals are evaluated according to uniform standards across all DFG programs.

Following the announcement of the preliminary results, DFG President Professor Dr. Katja Becker thanked all researchers who used their right to vote. "No other body illustrates the principle of scientific self-governance that the DFG stands for as well as the review boards," she said. In the review board election, the decision as to which individuals represent the subjects on the review boards lies with the scientific community itself.

The MPIK congratulates apl. Prof. Dr. José R. Crespo López-Urrutia on his election!
