Prof. Dr. Hans A. Weidenmüller

During the last few years random matrices, chaos and disorder in many-body quantum systems, and chaotic scattering in nuclei and in microwave billiards were in the focus of my interest. Most of the work was done in collaboration with researchers in Darmstadt, at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, in Orsay, at the Charles University in Prague, in Torino, at the Weizmann Institute and at Yale University. The picture shows on the left a microwave billiard as used by the Darmstadt group and on the right a schematic picture of a compound-nucleus reaction.
