Library

The library of the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics is a scientific reference library for Non-Thermal Astrophysics, Particle and Astroparticle Physics, Stored and Cooled Ions as well as Quantum Electronics, Quantum Dynamics and Quantum Control.

Its collection contains approximately 26,200 monographs, book series, conference reports and university publications produced at the Institute plus roughly 6,700 bound volumes of scientific journals. All media in the library can be taken out by the users themselves, but please let me know in advance for access to the journals.

Services

  • Literature acquisition, provision and research
    • Please feel free to contact me for any questions regarding procurement and access to literature. Also, you are very welcome to send a suggestion for acquisition if the library is missing a particular book. It will be added as soon as possible.
  • Interlibrary loan / Document supply services
    • Books and journal articles can be borrowed from other libraries or obtained partially as scans. Scans usually don't take longer than a day and can be requested via suggestion for acquisition as well.
  • Workstations in the library
  • Support with open access publishing
  • Publication management in the official Max Planck Society repository (MPG.PuRe)

Opening Hours

The library is open 24 hours a day (even when the lights are off).
Service Hours: Tuesday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
