Appointment of two MPIK scientists

The Department of Mathematical Sciences of the University of Liverpool, UK, has appointed two postdoctoral researchers of the MPI for Nuclear Physics as lecturers.

Dr. Oliver Fischer is a theoretical physicist and worked from November 2019 to July 2020 in the Division of Manfred Lindner. In the framework of basic research, he developed mathematical models for the extension of the Standard Model of particle physics. In particular, he investigated mechanisms for the generation of neutrino masses and connections to Dark Matter. Oliver Fischer received his PhD 2013 at the University of Freiburg followed by postdoc positions in Basel and at the Karlsruhe Institute for Technology.

Dr. Tommi Alanne is also a theoretical physicist and worked from July 2017 to July 2020 in the independent group NEWFO of Florian Goertz. His research ranged from extensions of the Standard Model of particle physics and that of the Higgs sector to the investigation of synergies between flavour physics, Higgs physics and cosmology. After his PhD 2015 at the University of Jyväskylä, Finnland, Tommi Alanne worked as postdoc at the University of Southern Denmark.
