In a recent interview with the "Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung", our current managing director at MPIK Heidelberg, Prof. Dr. Werner Hofmann,
gives insight into the scientific work at our institute. Werner Hofmann stresses the importance of the development and construction
of novel instruments for basic research. His division "Particle Physics and High-Energy Astrophysics" e.g. participates in an
international project to build the future CTA telescope system for ground-based gamma-ray astronomy. The novel cryogenic storage ring
CSR of our division for investigating properties and interactions of atomic and
molecular ions as well as our precision experiments in ion traps for the investigation of matter-antimatter imbalance are also
included amongst these successful research activities.
Furthermore, Werner Hofmann addresses the importance of science communication e.g. by public talks at schools or MPIK's
"Saturday Morning Physics" and the traditional open day at MPIK.
