Developm. Many-particle imaging techniques (COLTRIMS, Reaction Microscopes: Leibniz Award); Electron Beam Ion Traps (EBIT); x-ray, VUV and optical precision spectrometers; ultra-cold low-energy storage ring for molecular ions and HCIs (CSR) as well as for antiprotons (USR); ultra-fast (6 fs) laser pulses and pump-probe experiments (Δt < 300 as); carrier-envelope-phase stabilization; single attosecond pulses; cold ensembles in magneto-optical traps (MOT). CFEL ASG Multi-Purpose (CAMP) instrument (responsible project leader) for experiments at free electron lasers with 20 approved experiments at the first X-ray FEL, the LCLS (Stanford)
