Search for UHE Neutrinos with AMANDA

A Method to search for UHE neutrino events above 10^16 eV with AMANDA is described. As the earth is nearly opaque for neutrinos above 10^16 eV and the overburden above the AMANDA detector is limited the UHE neutrino induced muons are concentrated at the horizon. Extracting signal events in the upper hemisphere requires the rejection of the large flux of downward going atmospheric muons. A preliminary upper limit (not including systematics) for an E^-2 neutrino flux (10^15 eV < E_nu < 10^20 eV) of the order of 1.5x10^-6 E^-2 cm^-2 s^-1 sr^-1 GeV^-1 is set.
