Prof. Dr Thomas Pfeifer elected as Chair of the DPG’s Atomic Physics Division

At this year’s spring meeting of the Section for Atoms, Molecules, Optical Physics and Plasmas (SAMOP) of the German Physical Society (DPG) in March, Prof. Thomas Pfeifer of the Max-Planck-Institut für Kernphysik was elected as the future Chair of the Atomic Physics Division. Among other duties, he will represent the research field –currently more than 1,800 members – on the DPG Executive Board and will share responsibility for planning the programme for DPG conferences. Taking up the role of deputy immediately, he will assume the leadership role from the current chair, Prof. Bernd Issendorf (University of Freiburg), next year.
