The new Max Planck Partner Group aims at deepening the close collaboration of Prof. Sen and his group with the MPI für Kernphysik in the areas of neutrino physics, dark matter, early Universe cosmology and compact objects. The envisaged research bridges theoretical models and phenomenological studies with observational data obtained at MPIK and elsewhere. Key questions include the origin of neutrino masses and their interactions, the nature of dark matter and the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe.
Manibrata Sen studied physics at St.Xavier’s College in Kolkata and at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai, where he recieved his PhD in 2018. After a postdoctoral fellowship from 2018 to 2021 at the Northwestern University, Evanston, USA as part of the Network for Neutrinos, Nuclear Astrophysics, and Symmetries he joined the division of Prof. Manfred Lindner at MPIK as a postdoctoral researcher. In 2024 he was appointed Assistant Professor at IITB in Mumbai, India.
Max Planck Partner Groups are led by outstanding early career researchers who, after a research stay at a Max Planck Institute (MPI), move to a respective research institution or university, preferably in their home country. Max Planck Partner Groups enable collaboration in research areas that are innovative, scientifically promising, geared to the future and mutual interest both to the MPI and to the international partner institution.
