Rationale

The international workshop on "Very High Energy Phenomena Around Supermassive Black Holes" (April 8-12, 2019) aims at a discussion of research trends concerning the astrophysics of supermassive black holes, covering recent progress in both, the theoretical and the observational domain.

The meeting will give emphasis to the gamma-ray domain as well as particle acceleration aspects, but also include the fundamental multi-wavelength and -messenger connections (e.g., neutrinos). It will cover current results as well as upcoming projects.

The workshops aims to gather well-known experts from nearby countries and all over the world, including scientists with regional roots and possibilities to bolster local progress in research and capacity development. Being organized by the University of Heidelberg (ITA/ZAH) the workshop is supported by a grant from the Volkswagen Foundation, and will be locally hosted by the Russian-Armenian University.

The program will consist of invited review (30 min) and single-topic (15-20 min) talks. Participation is by invitation only.
