DUSTY VISIONS:
New Venues in Dust Research
10-13 April 2007 in Heidelberg, Germany
A Dust Astronomy Meeting
Local Host: Eberhard Grün, Max-Planck-Institut für Kernphysik
THE MEETING
In a workshop style we will discuss the present state and new venues
for cosmic dust research. There are exciting new results from Cassini,
Stardust, Spitzer and other space missions that stimulate new ideas and
theories. Core topics of the workshop will include interstellar,
presolar and cometary dust, dust in interplanetary space, cirumplanetary
dust including dusty rings and space debris, dusty plasmas, dust in
extrasolar systems as well as laboratory measurements, instrumentation
and space missions. Of special emphasis is cosmochemistry and
compositional analysis of dust. In view of the upcoming Announcement of
Opportunity of ESA's Cosmic Vision 2015-2025 programme, a goal of the
workshop is to form a team for the preparation of a proposal for a dust
astronomy mission and sample return of cosmic dust.
LOCATION
The meeting will be held in the 'Internationales Wissenschaftforum der
Universitt Heidelberg' (IWH),
which is a beautifully renovated art nouveau villa in the heart of the historical centre of
