User Access

The Dust Accelerator is available for international research groups, institutes or companies upon request. The interest has to be announced early in advance to allow an appropriate scheduling and experimental setup planning.

Accomodation

Guest-house accomodation might be available on request for a limited time. Guest-house requests have to be made at least 8 weeks prior to the visit, please contact Ralf Srama in this regard.

A convenient accomodation is the Hotel Kohler.

How to reach the facility

By car: Autobahn A5 from the north until Autobahnkreuz Heidelberg, turn to A656 direction Heidelberg; at the end of the Autobahn keep straight ahead on Bergheimer Strasse for about 1.5 km until Bismarckplatz (store "Galeria Kaufhof"), turn right into Rohrbacher Strasse, after about 1 km turn left into Steigerweg, and follow the direction signs "Max-Planck-Institut für Kernphysik" about 2.5 km uphill.
From the south leave A5 at the exit Heidelberg/Schwetzingen, turn to B535 direction Heidelberg/Leimen, then right direction Leimen and keep straight ahead for about 4.5 km (at last uphill) to the Aral station, there turn left to Boxberg and follow the direction signs "Max-Planck-Institut für Kernphysik".

By train: Arriving at the main station Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof which can be reached either directly by long-distance trains or via Mannheim and S-Bahn, take a taxi to the institute, or tram or bus to Bismarckplatz, change to bus 39 direction Königstuhl until stop "Kernphysikalisches Institut" (about 15 min).

By plane: Airport Frankfurt/Main; take either an express train (ICE, IC) at Flughafen Fernbahnhof via Mannheim or the Lufthansa Airport Bus to Heidelberg which arrives at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Kurfürstenanlage 1. Continue with a taxi.
Alternatively, there are shuttle services taking you by request from the airport to the hotel or the institute.

If you arrive at the airport Stuttgart, you can take the S-Bahn to Stuttgart main station to go by train to Heidelberg or you take a shuttle service (e.g. Schleckmann).

By taxi: Taxis are available outside the main station or can be called: +49 6221 302030. Please tell the taxi driver MPI für Kernphysik, Saupfercheckweg, as there are three other MPIs in Heidelberg.
