Cassini CDA PIM Test

The images shown were taken on 26. June 1997 during a Periodic Instrument Maintenance (PIM) test at the Kennedy Space Center with CDA fully integrated to the Cassini Spacecraft. CDA is wrapped in gold-colored thermal insulation. The bulls-eye cover (40 cm diameter) is closed. The sequence starts in the latched launch position. From there, CDA moves to the thermally safe position, where the cover will be released in flight. Then the maintenance sequence starts which takes about 2 hours from and back to the thermally safe position. In some images the High Rate Detector (HRD) is indicated.
